Biography: Yannick Van Dam was born in the French Alpine region of Haute-Savoie. He began his martial arts training at the age of fourteen under the tuition of Emile Azouji, the Liban free-fighting champion in Hung Gar Kung fu. At age 17 attending military combat under officer school, Yannick abruptly left his home to answer a calling seen in a vivid dream that haunted him since the age of twelve; he had envisioned himself as an ancient Chinese warrior distraught by being refused access to a Shaolin monastery. Yannick listening to his intuition journeyed to China and was immediately accepted to the very monastery he had dreamed of as a child. Notably becoming one of the few foreigner ever allowed to live and train at this monastery. He spent three years as a disciple of the monastery; studying Buddhism and practicing traditional Gong fu under the supervision of his Grand Master Shi Yong Ting and Master Shi Yong Xu. With his training complete, he returned to his family and worked as a Security Officer for the UN World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. Ten years after his initial visit he has returned back to China working for Z Team.
